NBA Legend Allen Iverson and WNBA Legend Lisa Leslie experience Jr. NBA Abu Dhabi League Finals

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and the National Basketball Association (NBA) hosted the second season of Jr. NBA Abu Dhabi League during a finals event on March 12 at the NYU Abu Dhabi campus with special events featuring 11-time NBA All-Star Allen Iverson and two-time WNBA champion Lisa Leslie.
Iverson and Leslie were present to socialize with young players and present awards during the closing ceremony, which saw the Jr. The NBA Abu Dhabi League has been crowned for the second time, the Cranleigh School for girls, the boys’ prize A belongs to the American Community School (ACS) and the boys’ prize B has come to the Australian School in Abu Dhabi.
Jr. The NBA Abu Dhabi League has expanded from 30 teams in its inaugural season in March 2022 to 60 teams for this season. The program is part of a groundbreaking multi-year partnership between the NBA and DCT Abu Dhabi, in which Abu Dhabi hosts its first pre-season NBA games in the Arabian Gulf in October 2022.
A 14-year NBA veteran, Iverson was named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player in 2001, was named to the All-NBA First and Second Teams three times each, and inducted into the Balloon Hall of Fame. the Naismith basket in 2016. Leslie is an eight-time WNBA All-Star player through 11 seasons in the league, a three-time WNBA MVP, a four-time Olympic gold medalist, and inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2015.
Jr. The NBA is the league’s global youth basketball program for boys and girls that teaches fundamental skills and core values of the game – teamwork, respect, determination and community – at the grassroots level in an effort to help develop and improve the youth basketball experience for players, coaches and parents. Tournament Jr. NBA Abu Dhabi aims to promote the values of the game and encourage youth to lead an active and healthy lifestyle through sports participation.
The partnership also sees DCT Abu Dhabi, part of the “Abu Dhabi Experience,” tourism promotion initiative of the United Arab Emirates capital, as a Tourism Destination Partner. Official NBA in the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and China.
