Ford recalls 1.5 million vehicles
Ford is recalling more than 1.5 million vehicles in the US in two actions to fix leaky brake hoses and potentially broken windshield wipers.
The largest recall covers nearly 1.3 million Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ midsize cars manufactured between 2013 and 2018. The company said in documents posted Friday by the agencies. safely manage that the front brake hoses may burst and leak brake fluid. That will increase the stroke of the brake pedal and make the stopping distance longer.
Dealers will replace the hoses. Ford will mail owners notices starting April 17. They will receive a second letter once parts are available for repair.
Ford says owners experiencing problems should call their dealer. There are a number of parts that are already available for repair. The company says only about 2% of vehicles have brake hose leaks.
Ford said it was aware of an accident but did not mention injuries resulting from the issue.
The second recall covers more than 222,000 F-150 pickups from 2021. Windshield wipers may break.
Dealers will replace the arm if necessary. Owners will be notified starting March 27.
