Revealed at a separate event ahead of the Los Angeles Auto Show, the Genesis X Convertible hints at what a production convertible from the Korean luxury brand might look like — say something like so it was made. The X Convertible ranks third in the Genesis “X” series of concept cars, behind the X Concept (2021) and the X Speedium Coupe (August 2022).
Purely a design exercise, the Crane White X Convertible has a long wheelbase and very short front and rear overhangs, giving the hood a slick but clean look and nicely proportioned proportions. . And, putting up a roof doesn’t mean ignoring sunlight; The X’s folding hardtop includes a transparent sunroof.
The cabin is finished with Giwa Navy and Dancheong Orange accents, colors named after the decorative colors found on the traditional Korean wooden building.
Genesis will only say that, like previous X concept models, the X Convertible is electric. Additional technical information is not available. If the X Convertible is in production, we’ll probably hear more.
Hyundai is on the cusp of design—check it out Current G90 for proof—and it’s a pity that this fascinating convertible will probably never go into production. That said, the Genesis has plenty on the market right now, such as an upcoming electric GV80 and GV70 “coupe”.
